On this weeks adventure, we headed to Lake Tahoe to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We tried to visit during our honeymoon, but it got cut short due to the wildfires. The water was SO clear and the views were absolutely stunning.
During our trek down to Lake Tahoe, we stopped in the Redwoods and camped among the beautiful trees. In Crescent City, we found ourselves visiting the beach and we halso had some good fish! The dogs had a wonderful day running around on the beach.
We rented an AirBnB while in Lake Tahoe that was pretty close to the beach and discovered that A/C apparently isn’t a thing there. So we basically had all the windows open when we were home to get at least a little airflow through the place. We spent most of our time on the beach and playing in the water. We HAD to buy a blow up turtle floatie because, well, why not? The water was pretty cold even though it was toasty out. Did you know that Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in the US? It’s also over 1,500 feet deep!
We rented a boat in South Lake Tahoe one day, and it felt like we were in the ocean with how choppy the water was. The doggos got to enjoy the day with us, and they all looked super cute in their lifejackets! Afterward, we had all-you-can-eat sushi at Sushi Pier. It’s the best sushi I’ve ever had. Speaking of great food, if you’re ever in South Lake Tahoe, you NEED to go to Super Tacos. I’m telling you it’s the best nachos I’ve ever had. It was so nice, we got it twice. We also had to fill our sweet tooth and grabbed the Bear Bowl (a warm cookie with your flavor of ice cream on top) at The Baked Bear. Don’t worry, we walked off some of our food while we perused the shops around town.
This trip was super relaxing, and obviously, we had a lot of delicious food. If you’re planning a trip here, it’s good to know that South Lake Tahoe seems more touristy than where we stayed, which was in King’s Beach. Kings Beach has a dog ”beach”, which was super rocky. Either way, the crowds are wild in the summer so if you want to get a good spot on the beach, get there early.
