A couple years ago, before the van came along, we took a road trip across 11 states in a Camry with 2 dogs.
Here's what we brought with us to make it work:
WINDOW COVERS
Window covers to help control the light that came into the car at night & for privacy. We also placed a window cover on the front windshield as well as the back.
INFLATABLE CAR MATTRESS
We slept in the backseat so we could stretch out more while the dogs slept in the front seats. It was super easy to inflate at night and deflate in the morning for more room.
COOLER
We took a cooler with us, so we could save money on meals. This made it to where we didn't have to make as many stops on the road for food.
DOG BOWLS
I wish we had the bowl on the left during our trip. It would have saved us from cleaning up messes from the dogs. The collapsable bowls are great to take on hikes!
GPS
If you don't have unlimited data, a GPS will get you where you need to go and save your phone's battery! I love the split screen that shows you what lane to be in, especially in big cities.
TENT
We brought a tent with us because we found a beautiful campground in Montana that we couldn't give up the opportunity to go to. This tent is easy to set up and has held up rain or shine. We had enough room to fit us and 2 dogs.
