Great Sand Dunes National Park

This is one of the few National Parks in the US that allow dogs on the sand dunes. You can also go sandboarding. There's a few places nearby that rent them out.

There's a campsite a few minutes away from the National Park that's absolutely gorgeous and you can see all the stars at night. And it's free!
